Rut roh... it's that time of year again! Changes in moose behavior are a clear sign that fall, and the rut, is just around the corner. As testosterone surges and temperatures cool, bull moose are more active, spend less time eating, and become preoccupied with making bold breeding season statements through visual displays, vocalizations, and scent. When moose start shedding the velvet from their antlers and exhibiting rut (breeding season) behaviors, we know fall is just around the corner! Visitors to Maine Wildlife Park this time of year will get to witness the power and presence that make moose such an icon of the Maine woods. Be extra quiet and respectful during your visit this fall so as not to disturb the moose at the Park as he goes through all the same seasonal changes as a wild Maine moose. You'll see him rub his antlers on tree ba
