Former Longhorns head coach Mack Brown, celebrated for leading Texas to a national championship in 2005 and cementing a storied legacy from 1998 to 2013, visited Darrell K Royal-Memorial Stadium.

Colin Simmons, the talented edge rusher from Texas, was given the 2024 Shaun Alexander National Freshman of the Year award. It was a tad controversial at the time, but the merits are certainly true: The Longhorns have a remarkably talented pass-rusher that is going to be a problem for any team they play.

The No. 1-rated Texas Longhorns are coming into the first week of the season as betting underdogs when they face the reigning champion Ohio State Buckeyes on Aug. 30. Ohio State is favored by 2.5 points across the entire betting market, with the total coming in at 48 points for what could be a shootout.

Texas Longhorns quarterback Arch Manning arguably has the most pressure and highest expectations of any college football player in history. Manning is entering his first year as the full-time starter under center for the Longhorns and many national media networks are projecting him to earn college football’s highest accolades in 2025.
