The NFL has a way of laughing at the best-laid plans of coaches and general managers. Just ask the Cleveland Browns, who now find themselves likely starting rookie quarterback Shedeur Sanders in Friday’s preseason opener against the Carolina Panthers due to a rash of injuries at the position.

Cleveland Browns rookie quarterback Shedeur Sanders will have his opportunity to impress his coaches on Friday night.

And fifth-rounder Shedeur Sanders was listed fourth.  On the surface, this looks like doom and gloom for Sanders, who was projected to be selected in the first few rounds of the draft but instead fell deep into Day 3 and was the second quarterback drafted by his own team.
