A 3.5 magnitude earthquake just south of Greenback, Tennessee was felt across the Southeast region Saturday morning, including North Carolina and the Atlanta, Georgia metropolitan area.

The earthquake was about 15 miles deep, the USGS says, which is considered a shallow quake.  It was the seventh earthquake with a 4.0 magnitude or greater since 1900 and the first since a 4.

The quake struck south of Greenback, about 30 miles south of Knoxville, just after 9 a.m., according to data from the United States Geological Service.
