Jaylen Brown and Jayson Tatum have emerged as one of the top pairings in Boston Celtics history. However, the championship-winning duo would not have had the opportunity if not for a Brooklyn Nets decision.

When Kevin Durant requested a trade from the Brooklyn Nets during the 2022-23 season, the Boston Celtics were reportedly interested in acquiring the future Hall of Famer. According to Shams Charania of ESPN, the Celtics offered Jaylen Brown, Derrick White and a first-round pick to the Nets for Durant.

Despite their strong offer, Brooklyn opted to trade Durant to the Phoenix Suns, relinquishing him for several valuable assets, including Mikal Bridges and a multitude of draft picks. This decision by the Nets has since been scrutinized, especially as they struggle to find their footing in the post-Durant era.
