Markets on Wall Street gave back some of their gains from a day earlier, when the Federal Reserve proclaimed the U.S. economy healthy and left its main interest rate unchanged.

US stock futures rose as investors digested reassuring signals from Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell after the central bank held interest rates steady on Wednesday.

A solid reading on home sales helped limit the downside for stocks. Indeed, data from the National Association of Realtors showed existing home sales rose 4.2% month over month in February to a seasonally adjusted rate of 4.26 million. Year over year, sales were down 1.2%.
