AAA Mid-Atlantic predicts the number of travelers may be down due to concerns over the economy, but that will not stop them from going somewhere

According to AAA, this year’s domestic travel forecast is an increase of 1.4 million travelers compared to last year and sets a new Memorial Day weekend record. The previous record was set back in 2005 with 44 million people.

AAA predicts 39.4 million people will travel by car over Memorial Day weekend. That’s one million travelers more compared to last year. This also comes as gas prices have dropped. AAA believes 3.61 million people will travel by air, a two percent increase from last years.
