It took until roughly 48 hours before the NHL trade deadline, but Jordan Greenway and the Buffalo Sabres were able to reach a contract extension. And despite it happening so close to the deadline, Greenway said Thursday he was always confident the two sides could come to an agreement.

The Buffalo Sabres made one of the biggest trades of the NHL trade deadline. They sent center Dylan Cozens, defenseman Dennis Gilbert, and a second-round pick to the Ottawa Senators for Josh Norris and Jacob Bernard-Docker.

Teams across the NHL were calling Adams to try to acquire winger Jordan Greenway, a 6-foot-6 power forward who's provided the Sabres with a penalty-killing, sound defense, secondary scoring and leadership when he's been on the ice for 110 games since he arrived in Buffalo two years ago.
