Evacuations ordered as Black Canyon of Gunnison National Park wildfire nears 3,000 acres
Firefighters continue to battle the South Rim fire in the Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park, as the blaze jumped over a 1,000 acres in size overnight, leading to evacuations for nearby neighborhoods.

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KJCT) - The South Rim Fire burned 1,640 acres as of 11:00 p.m. on Thursday according to the InciWeb. The fire started around 11:30 a.m. and was caused by a lightning strike.
