Mark Joseph Carney won the Liberal Party of Canada leadership election by a large margin, which has positioned him to become Canada's 24th Prime Minister. Carney is the first Canadian PM to reach this office without having previously been elected to a political position.

Mark Carney has won the leadership race for the Liberal Party and is set to become Canada's next prime minister, succeeding Justin Trudeau. Carney brings extensive experience from his past roles at Goldman Sachs and as the governor of the Bank of Canada and the Bank of England.
