A state of emergency has been declared in Florida where evacuations are underway as Tropical Storm Helene strengthens. Residents in the storm's potential path have been told to prepare for up to a week without electricity.

Potential Tropical Cyclone Nine is expected to become Hurricane Helene on Wednesday, according to the National Hurricane Center.

Another storm system is taking aim at Florida. Tropical Storm Helene, soon to be a hurricane, is sweeping up from the Caribbean Sea into extremely warm waters that are fuel for tropical cyclones.
