“Final Destination: Bloodlines” opened in 3,523 locations riding in on a wave of strong reviews (93% on Rotten Tomatoes) and viral marketing tactics, including a picture of logs on the back of trucks — a callback to one of the more infamous “Final Destination” death traps.

After ending a box office drought with “A Minecraft Movie” and “Sinners,” Warner Bros. continued its recent hot streak this weekend with New Line’s “Final Destination: Bloodlines,” which earned an excellent $51 million opening weekend from 3,523 theaters.

Final Destination has defied death once again. The iconic horror franchise is back from the grave with Final Destination Bloodlines, the first installment since Final Destination 5 brought the saga full circle in 2011.
