A high-stakes trial began Monday in a California courtroom over whether the Trump administration violated federal law when it deployed thousands of National Guard troops and United States Marines to Los Angeles following protests over immigration raids in June.

President is deploying National Guard in response to what he calls a crime emergency, with 800 troops to be sent to DC.

Trump mentioned New York, Baltimore, and Oakland as other cities where he wants to put the police under federal control. “This will go further," he said.
