Hurricane John tracker: Map and projected storm path
Hurricane John has formed in the Pacific Ocean off the coast Mexico and is expected to bring hurricane-strength winds, rain and storm surge to southern Mexico. The National Hurricane Center predicts that John may strengthen into a major category 4 hurricane before making landfall.

John was a tropical storm over Mexico early Tuesday Mexico Central Time, the National Hurricane Center said in its latest advisory. The tropical storm had sustained wind speeds of 70 miles per hour. Flash flooding can occur well inland and away from the storm’s center.
