When the Texas Rangers signed Jacob deGrom three years ago, this is the pitcher they believed they were getting.

Corey Seager had two solo home runs and an RBI double, Jacob deGrom struck out a season-high 10 in five-plus innings and the Texas Rangers beat Detroit 10-3 on Saturday night to end the Tigers’ winning streak at five.

He’s a tough critic, but, deGrom is too. He harped on his own mechanics again Sunday, and lamented the fact that he continues to fly open when he delivers certain pitches, but still buckled down for a fourth-straight start with two or fewer runs allowed. He threw 39 fastballs at a season-best average of 97 mph.
