Chennai and eleven other districts are bracing for heavy rainfall through Friday due to a low-pressure system in the Bay of Bengal. The India Meteorological Department has issued a yellow alert for multiple districts until November 15.

Due to the heavy rain forecast, schools in Chennai will remain closed today: November 12, 2024. A downpour is expected in various areas including Thiruvallur, Kancheepuram, Chengalpattu, etc.

The state’s Deputy Chief Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin confirmed, “We have increased the number of motor pumps and deployed additional volunteers based on rain patterns observed in October. The Tamil Nadu government is fully prepared for the rains.

Chennai is expected to experience heavy rainfall on November 13, prompting the IMD to issue an alert for the city and eleven surrounding districts. As a precaution, Tuesday has been declared a school holiday in Chennai.
