Notre Dame football is picking up four players from the transfer portal, after defeating Penn State in the College Football Playoff.

Notre Dame keeps rolling on in the NCAA Transfer Portal. The latest commitment for the Fighting Irish comes from 6-3, 290-pound interior defensive lineman Elijah Hughes. He’s a rare underclassmen addition for Notre Dame as a former class of 2023 prospect who spent his first two seasons at USC.

Notre Dame has gone back into the state of Virginia for another big transfer portal pickup, this time landing Virginia Tech safety Jalen Stroman. Notre Dame wanted safety help in the portal and Stroman gives them one of the better safeties in the portal.

Notre Dame football fans are locked in on the national championship game where the Irish will play Ohio State in just over a week, but roster construction for the 2025 squad also continues behind the scenes. Saturday saw Notre Dame add a talented defensive tackle from a 2024 opponent.

New Jersey defensive lineman Owen Wafle committed to Notre Dame football in May of 2022, and kept his verbal until almost a year later. The 6-foot, 2-inch and almost 300-pound lineman would decommit from the Irish and about three weeks later would commit to Michigan. Wafle signed with the Wolverines, but didn’t see the field this fall.
