Veronica Cunningham longed to stop working this year, and her winnings helped make her dream come true, according to the NC Education Lottery. The prize will also help the Charlotte resident pay off her home.

So where did the player hit the jackpot? The lucky ticket was sold at the Quality Mart gas station in Pinnacle, a roughly 20-mile drive northwest from Winston-Salem, the N.C. Education Lottery wrote on its website and on X, formerly known as Twitter.
