Twelve fatalities were reported in Missouri – the most of any state struck by the storm – from scattered twisters, thunderstorms and large hail that ravaged dozens of communities. “Homes and businesses have been destroyed, entire communities are without power and the road to recovery will not be easy,” Gov. Mike Kehoe said in a statement.

At least 26 people have been killed in a monster storm sweeping across much of the U.S. People were killed in tornadoes in Missouri and in a Kansas dust storm.

The severe storm threat begins Saturday. Central and northern MS face heightened risk, and forecasters are warning of danger across the state.
