Friday’s snowfall that lasted into this morning brought some heavier-than-expected tallies to communities close to Lake Michigan. Lake-effect snow - triggered by a cold-air system flowing over the relatively warmer waters of Lake Michigan - sent more than 7 inches of snow piling up in Holland and some surrounding areas.
