CHICAGO - Eight people were shot, one fatally, in less than an hour across the Chicago area Saturday night. There were a total of five shootings and eight victims between 7:33 p.m. and 8:14 p.m., according to Chicago police.

In the first shooting of the weekend, A 63-year-old man was shot in front of a residence around 5:23 p.m. in the 7800 block of South Emerald Avenue.

A man was killed and another wounded in a shooting in Sacramento’s Midtown area early Saturday, police said. Sacramento police said the shooting happened just before 1 a.m. in the area of 24th and J streets.
